The woman who was working today was really nice and offered to help me with a last-minute reservation. Even though I ultimately didn't need it I was really happy with how nice and helpful she was. Definitely will use them again.
This office provided me with EXCEPTIONAL life saving service! I had a reservation with another company and on the pick up day, I was told I could not get the vehicle. I was in New York City with my children was almost about to cry because I had never been to New York and now I was being told I could not get a vehicle because I did not have a major credit card. I am a planner and called the previous company BEFORE I left Florida to make sure I could get the vehicle with my debit card. They told me everything I would need and I complied only to be denied. I scrambled to find another agency that could help. I found that with BUDGET! The rental pick up was reserved where I had no clue on how to get there and they were closing at 4pm that day.
Then the manager Billy, took over the rest of the way. He got all of the info he needed from me and within 15 minutes my children and I were in a vehicle and on our way! This is the kind of company you want to deal with and the people they trust to take care of the public is just as important. Billy and Karen are worth their weight in gold! My kids and I are forever grateful for Budget at the Matawan, NJ office.
If you have a low credit score....don't bother. I prepaid online only to get denied at pick up. Now I have to wait 3-5 business days to get my $200 back. Pissed to the max!!!!!!
If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. We were quoted $250 on the phone, letting them know we were going to leave the keys in the drop off after hours upon return. When we arrived, Billy the manager was already very unprofessional, but we ignored it since we were in a rush. He said 'alright, here's the key drop off for after hours drop off'. While my husband was signing the papers, he noticed we were being charged $366. When we questioned, he said it was because it was after hour drop off. He CLEARLY already knew it was after hour drop off because we told him on the phone! We asked if he would honor the price that was quoted over the phone and he said NO! It's literally a 2 hour difference and he was going to charge us for a whole extra day!!!! I wouldn't have been so pissed if they would've told us that over the phone! We were very clear about our dates/times up front and we were still quoted $250. Being that THEY made a mistake, the price should've been honored. Our card has already been charged! Now we have to wait for the hold to come off and still rent another car somewhere else!!!!!! The sad thing is that Billy is the manager!!!!! Stay away from this place! They try to get your business by quoting one price over the phone and having you sign papers with a different price!!!!
